Functional description
The radio temperature monitor is used to monitor the exhaust gas temperature in the flue pipe of heat-generating systems. The heat acts on a precision microswitch which, above the fixed set limit temperature, switches off the transmitter for the release messages and thus does not release the exhaust air system. After the temperature at the sensor is lowered by approx. 15K below the fixed limit value of 40°C, the microswitch switches back and the transmitter sends release signals again. The window transmitter included in the set releases the exhaust air system when the window is open, if the furnace is burning and no release signals are sent from the FTX transmitter. Closing the window will cause a short interruption even though the furnace is cold, until the next release is sent from the FTX. This serves an extended safety. Mechanical damage to the sensor leads to a lowering of the switching point until the FTX no longer releases despite a cold furnace, therefore the system is intrinsically safe!
Use and mounting of the FTX
The FTX 519 is attached to a free piece of the flue gas pipe with a minimum diameter of 120mm, which is freely accessible at all times. The pipe can be located behind a maintenance flap, the furnace itself or in the vicinity of heat dissipating parts. However, the permissible ambient temperature at the switch housing and cable must not exceed 180°C under any circumstances. The mounting location should be easily accessible (pull off the FTX to clean the flue pipe) and free of vibration. The FTX determines whether a stove is cold and sends release signals to the FDS receiver so that a window does not always have to be opened as well to put an exhaust system into operation. At the end of the 2-meter silicone line is the transmitter, which is mounted on a wall outside the heat area and convenient for radio communication.
Additional transmitter for second window
To have a choice between two windows (OR function), there is a possibility to use an additional transmitter FDS 098 of the same code, which is programmed at the factory.
Second recipient
An additional receiver (built-in FDS 199 or intermediate plug FDS 299) can be controlled for the existing set. As soon as the furnace is cold or a window has been opened, both receivers enable the respective connected device. When ordering additional devices, always specify the serial number of your existing receiver. Involve your chimney sweep in your planning before installation so that nothing stands in the way of acceptance afterwards. There are significant regional differences, over which Elektrotechnik Schabus has no influence.
Operating note
For technical reasons, the operation of a radio temperature transmitter is only permitted with one existing furnace. If two or more furnaces are to be equipped with the FTX, safe operation is not sufficiently guaranteed. In this case, please contact the Technical Support of Elektrotechnik Schabus so that we can find an individual solution for you. The housing of the FTX transmitter, as well as the window magnet switch is in the color telegrey-4, but on request also available in all RAL colors for an additional charge.

* Obstacles, especially metals, sometimes reduce the range considerably compared to free space. The actual range always depends on the respective installation. If there are frequent dropouts during operation, despite a fresh battery, a poor radio link is often to blame. The distance between transmitter and receiver is hardly relevant. Keep the receiver at least 20 cm away from the nearest metal surface. Thick glass plates, ceramic hobs, kitchen cabinets with pots and pans, as well as walls and ceilings also shield the radio waves perfectly and interfere with reliable operation. For a good connection, align the receiver during installation so that its LED "looks" in the direction of the transmitter.
