The stainless steel float switches are more resistant to certain media (e.g. weak acids or alkalis) than the plastic mini float switches. They are popular in food processing because of their resistant properties and because bacteria do not colonize stainless steel as easily as plastic. Unlike the float body, which is pressed from thin V4A sheet in each type, the shaft is milled and turned from the full V2A material and is correspondingly costly to manufacture. The stainless steel float switch is reliable, maintenance and wear free and easy to install. The lower the voltages and currents, the more switching cycles are possible. According to Meder, 1 trillion switching cycles can be achieved if the switching power is kept below 5 volts and 1 mA, which applies to all water detectors from Elektrotechnik Schabus. Only Meder reed contacts are potted in the shaft to be waterproof. The contact switches on at a certain level and activates the input of the water detector. By turning the float body around, the reverse contact function is also obtained. With the changeover contact, there is no need to turn the float over. As with all sensors and float switches from ES, it is possible to get the cable in desired length or other types. Talk to our technical support. Useful accessories are the mounting bracket or the dirt trap incl. mounting bracket, which ensure that the mini float switch is mounted as vertically as possible with a deviation of max. 30°, so that the float can move freely on the shaft without jamming.
